Our Story.
Lighthouse Plays was founded to address a recurring challenge for theater directors and educators: finding fresh, new theatrical adaptations of classic stories.
We wanted to create scripts that captured the brilliance of the source material, while also recognizing that our cultural traditions have evolved since the original work was written. We were committed to preserving the rich humor, heart, and tragedy of these stories but in a structure that would appeal to and entertain modern audiences.
We now offer a full library of plays that feature innovative, dynamic storytelling that are uniquely suited for a variety of ages. Every script in our library premiered at a Chicago area theater company, and we’ve been excited to partner with organizations across the world to produce our plays on their stages. With our growing play library, we believe Lighthouse is a one-stop-shop for directors and educators who enjoy bringing classic works of literature to life on stage.
